Tuesday School Course Descriptions

3rd-5th Grade Writing Class (Tuesdays 8am, Optional) Writing is a difficult skill to teach even for the most experienced teachers. Western Christian is coming alongside parents and offering a writing class to help even the most reluctant writers. We will be using a proven writing methodology and the classroom setting to help motivate your child to become a better writer. This program is designed to be completed multiple times (new stories will be provided the first day of class)

Rachelle Bogle earned her B. S. in Business from Cal State San Bernardino. She has been homeschooling her two children for six years. She is passionate about helping children learn how to write well.

Christina LeMaster earned her B. A. in English Literature as well as her Master’s in Education from Azusa Pacific University. She has been teaching English to middle school and high school students for fifteen years. Her passion is not only teaching English, but raising young men and women to become Christian leaders.

6th Grade Class Teacher - Stephanie Carrillo

I am very excited to be teaching 6th grade this year. I have a B.S. in Speech Pathology & Audiology, M.A. in Multicultural Education, and a Multi-Subject Teaching Credential. I taught for 15 years in K-8th grade classrooms, before my husband and I were blessed with our son. For the last 7 years we have been homeschooling our son, and we are loving it!

This year in 6th grade we will be studying ancient history and civilizations by weaving Biblical and world history together. Students will see that God’s hand has been at work throughout history! I will be using “The World’s Story Volume 1: The Ancients” as a guide for planning our study. Our study will integrate a historical fiction novel, along with a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) challenge connected to the time period. In addition to learning about ancient history, we will be using the AWANA Trek book in conjunction with the Bible to learn God’s word. Students will be getting their bodies physically fit during P.E. with Ms. Sessions.

Middle School Academy Course Descriptions:


Teacher: Jamie Grasmick earned her B. A. in English Literature as well as her Master’s in Education from Azusa Pacific University. She has been teaching English to middle school and high school students for fifteen years. Her passion is not only teaching English, but raising young men and women to become Christian leaders. She is a pastor’s wife and passionate Christ follower.

Students will follow the Awana Curriculum for Middle School Students. 6th-8th grade students will using the book titled Trek, His Love which is a part of the AWANA middle school curriculum.

Speech and Debate

Teacher: Christina LeMaster (bio above, in writing class info) Students will study and practice various types of speeches in the classroom setting including informative and persuasive speeches as well as memorization of poetry and scripture.


Teacher: Amber Collins has been married for 13 years and has four children ranging in age from 11 to 6. She has been homeschooling for six years. She attended Concordia University in Irvine and in her second year of college, transferred to Azusa Pacific, graduating with a BA in liberal studies. She was a substitute teacher for a couple of years as she attended Chapman University's teaching credential program. She received her teaching credential in 2006. She is very involved serving in multiple capacities at her church, The Way Bible Fellowship, in Fontana.

This year our middle school students will be using the Christian Kids Explore curriculum. We will be learning about physics with the goal of developing an understanding of matter and energy and the rules they follow within the design of God’s creation. Students will engage in hands on activities as we go through this Scripture based science curriculum.

Literary Circles

Teacher- Jamie Grasmick is an experienced teacher and educator. She currently teaches college level writing as well as homeschools her four children.

Students will read 1-4 novels over the course of the year and engage in literary circles to discuss the readings with their classmates. In literary circles, small groups of students gather together to discuss a piece of literature in depth. The roles of Connector, Summarizer, Discussion Director, Illustrator, Word Wizard, and Literary Luminary will be assigned weekly in preparation for the discussion.

Tuesday School Courses: Elementary (2nd- 5th Grade)


Teacher– Abbie Morris

Course Description: We are excited to launch AWANA at our Tuesday school site. We will be implementing the Awana curriculum from pre-school to 8th grade because we value every student having a deep knowledge of the Word of God. Fun incentives and celebrations will be earned throughout the year.


Teacher- Stephany Maxwell is both humbled and honored to be the new Tuesday school science teacher. She attended the University of Texas at Arlington, majoring in Biology with a pre-med option. Two years ago, seeking to honor God and lead Christ centered lives, she and her husband Benjamin began the home school journey. As they study the Holy Bible it is evident it is filled with scientific facts and she is personally inspired with the truths revealed to us in the book of Job. She prays that they attain an intimate knowledge of our Glorious God as we study his creations.

We will be studying the science surrounding the days of creation (Genesis 1:1-27). I will also be incorporating several S.T.E.A.M (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) projects and quizzes disguised as games.

Physical Education

Teacher: Elena Wallace: My name is Elena Wallace and I have two boys currently in the Western Christian PSP Tuesday school program. I have been involved in Children's ministry for 20 years including missions work in Mazatlán, Mexico. I love working with kids and I oversee the 1st -5th grade Sunday school classes at my church, Living Waters of Chino, where I've been a member for 23

years. I hope to engage your children in some fun, energetic and challenging games that will help them stay active and live a healthy life. Teaching our children to be good stewards of their bodies is a great fundamental lesson that can be taught at a young age.

Teacher- Lachelle Sessions has a B.A. degree in Liberal Studies. She has been the San Dimas Park Day Coach for five years as well as the Head Track and Field Coach for a homeschool league for 6 years. Lachelle is an avid sports enthusiast and enjoys working with kids. She has a passion for sports, health and wellness. She enjoys volunteering with different organizations including the Health

Scholar program at Riverside Community Hospital, kid’s registration at church, and where ever else there is a need.

This physical fitness class will introduce your child to a variety of fitness activities and sports. Activities such as plyometrics, isometrics, calisthenics, and stretching techniques will be employed for training. Sports may include basic martial arts, baseball, volleyball, obstacle courses, and fun old-fashioned games such as kickball and four square. The importance of good nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits, good sportsmanship, and a Godly attitude will be stressed.

Tuesday School Lower Elementary Grades

Tuesday School 1st Grade Class:

Heather Carlson is excited to be teaching the first grade class this academic year! Heather obtained her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in 2002 and her master’s degree from University of Phoenix in 2012. Heather works outside of the home as an early childhood educator for individuals with special needs. Heather also enjoys teaching Sunday School, alongside her husband, Andy. Heather has been married to Andy for sixteen years and they have three children, including Maya (10), Liam (8), and Avery (6).

The first grade class will be full of learning and fun this year! Mrs. Carlson will focus on Bible verse memorization, sentence structure, basic book report writing, as well as discussions on various biographical spotlights. The class will be learning about unit studies, including the four seasons, weather, bugs/insects/spiders, the solar system, plants/flowers/trees, the life cycle of the frog and butterfly, as well as animals on the land, in the sea, and in the sky. In addition, the class will enjoy arts/crafts, music, weekly show and tell, as well as participation in the end of the year classroom art/

science fair showcase.

Tuesday School Kindergarten Class

Lisa and Kwesi Kissi-Ayittey are starting their seventh year of homeschooling their children, Sophia, Seth and Daniel. Lisa has a BA in Communications from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI and an MA in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. She worked as a Missionary Youth Minister at New City Kids Church in Jersey City, New Jersey for several years. In that role she led a Youth Acting Troupe for middle and high school students. Lisa has also been a counselor for children with behavioral challenges at a residential treatment center in California and she recently started her own business, Kid University Resources which provides in-home classes for kids from grades K-8. Lisa enjoys being organized and creative and gathering small groups together for learning, fun, food and fellowship. Lisa and Kwesi are so grateful that God led their family to homeschooling. They consider it a joy and a privilege to have such an opportunity with their children.

Welcome to Kindergarten where learning is FUN! We believe that children can love school and look forward to learning. In the Tuesday kindergarten class this year, your child will be learning some traditional kindergarten themes such as letter sounds, numbers, seasons and holidays. We will also be learning how to play games including following rules, taking turns and having good sportsmanship when winning or losing. Arts and crafts, videos, songs, snacks and exercise will all be part of our morning together. We will learn about Jesus and the Bible and the kids will play with their friends. Miss Lisa and Miss Tasse look forward to welcoming each child and helping them grow and develop throughout the year. It’s going to be a great one!

Tuesday School Pre School Class

Teacher: Jessica Gardner We are excited to welcome our new pre-school teacher, Jessica Gardner

Young children excel with hands on learning environments and play. We will rotate centers through- out our class time, keeping Christ the center of our day.
